ABSTRACT

On March 14, 2020, a State of Alarm was declared throughout Spain, and the educational system underwent a change that led to the reformulation of many aspects of the teaching-learning process. In Spain, the Autonomous Communities (AACC) assumed the delegation of responsibilities to act in their territorial scope and adapt the restrictions by territorial areas according to the incidence of Covid-19 infections. Subsequently, many studies supported the decision of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training for the academic year 2020-2021, on the need for the attendance of educational classes, entrusting each AACC and educational center to specify contingency plans or safety protocols, with the aim of ensuring the maximum possible attendance of students in Secondary Education. The aim of this work is to describe and learn about the difficulties encountered by Physical Education (PE) teachers when teaching during the 2020-2021 school year, in relation to four dimensions: time for physical-sports practice, use of facilities, use and cleaning of material, and decisions of the management team regarding the subject of PE. An ad hoc survey was designed, with the participation of a total of 740 PE teachers in Spain, distributed among the 17 AACC. The results show a decrease in motor engagement time, difficulties in working on some objectives and evaluation criteria due to the impossibility of using specific materials or classrooms, because of a disparity of criteria and approaches used by the different AACC.

ABSTRACT

Nowadays, the world is more connected than ever;the use of internet, social networks and platforms allows for people of all ages to have constant communication. During the past year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, children and teenagers have had to spend most of their time using a technological device, for educational and recreational purposes. This constant connection has carried on several issues, one of them being cyberbullied. This is when a person intentionally and repeatedly harms another one, on a virtual environment. Even with its downside, technology has many advantages;it has allowed for children and teenagers to engage in educational communities and applications. Then, studies on bullying and the ways to fight it exist from many years prior, however, there are little literature about the technological solutions to help in the fight against cyberbullying and bullying. Therefore, the objective of this research is to perform a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) about technological solutions for education and to fight bullying and cyberbullying in children and teenagers. To perform a trustworthy, rigorous and repeatable SLR, the methodology proposed by Kitchenham was used. The presented SLR, uses studies from 2009 to 2021. To start, a group of primary studies was selected, which met the characteristics to answer the research question "What technological tools, methods and models are used to educate about bullying and cyberbullying?" The primary studies were obtained from the most used digital libraries, prominent journals, and most representative conferences in the area. In conclusion, this study provides a global vision of the state of the art in this area, which represents a helpful tool for researchers to detect weaknesses and gaps and open new horizons regarding the use and design of technology to fight bullying and cyberbullying.

ABSTRACT

The Covid19 pandemic is not only being devastating in terms of economic development, but, fundamentally, in the experience of our experience of the intimate and social, affective and family reality. What we want to call the new reality implies a psychic and emotional decontextualization that forces us to reconstruct and re-signify our living presence in others. We are in dire need of the creation of new ways of developing ties, so that we continue to have otherness as the nodal element that sustains human relationships. For this, the contribution of art, creativity and creative therapies are living and indispensable mechanisms in this new reality.

ABSTRACT

MEXICO. What this article is about: This article outlines the development of a new subject - 'Vida Saludable' or 'Healthy Living' - which is featured in the Mexican national school curriculum. The subject aims to educate schoolchildren whilst tackling the wider nutritional challenges facing Mexico's youth. Key messages: * Vida Saludable is the latest in a growing body of nutrition-focused initiatives that the Mexican government has introduced in recent years with the objective of curbing the national obesity epidemic in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. * This comprehensive initiative highlights the value of collaboration between government departments and organisations with the formation of the new subject showcasing the government's ability to develop a novel, evidence-based, child and adolescent-focused intervention. * Despite successes, remaining challenges revolve around implementing a robust monitoring and evaluation system, as well as formally incorporating the subject into the national curriculum and resolving the associated timetabling issues.

ABSTRACT

The objective of these work was to explore the experiences of university students about the instructional action in an online teaching setting, before Covid-19, and in emergency remote teaching setting, during the pandemic. For this, a cross sectionalcorrelational study with non-probabilistic sampling of voluntary participants was carried out;the sample consisted of 301 students enrolled in a Mexican university. To contrast the experiences of the students in the two scenarios, a self-applied Likert-type questionnaire was used, composed of 24 items (Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient of.968, correlations greater than.30 in all items);the analysis procedure involved two complementary routes: calculating percentage frequencies and in addition Student's t test was applied for related samples. It was found that the means were higher for the online teaching scenario compared to the emergency remote teaching scenario, although statistically significant differences were only found regarding the instructional design, the evaluation of learning and the participation of students in the subjects. The results also reveal a couple of methodological limitations and, at the same time, a set of questions that open future lines of work. © 2021 Universidad de Murcia. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

The education system attempts to effectively respond to the instructional changes and challenges caused by COVID-19.The adaptation process of predominantly face-to-face teaching to virtual one has involved a substantial effort for Physical Education (PE) teachers with the aim of adapting the teaching and learning process. To the best of our knowledge, no studies have analyzed the different at-home PE units done by teachers. This research aimed at examining, from a curricular perspective, distinct at-home PE proposals in order to ascertain their characteristics, share instances of good teaching practices, and provide teachers with useful guidelines to help them design quality proposals in the future. The results evidenced that the predominant activity profile was an individual motor exercise focused on physical fitness and introduced as a challenge, in which students repeat a specific movement sequence with the aid of the internet.
